Mt Cho Oyu Expedition

Mt. Cho Oyu (7,161m.) is the sixth highest Himalayan peak in the world. Mt. Cho Oyu lies in the Khumbu region of Nepal bordering the Tibet and Nepal. Mt. Cho Oyu is the most beautiful Mountain in its range and literally means the “Turquoise Goddess” in Tibetan. Mt. Cho Oyu was conquered for the first time on 19th October, 1954 by a group Australian Expedition Herbert Tichy, Sepp Jocher and Pasang Dawa Sherpa Lama. It is Easier to attempt the peak from the Tibet side because of the fact that the mountain is quiet steep in the Nepal Section whereas in Tibet side it's fairly plain.

For Mt. Cho Oyu expedition you first take a Scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla the trekking trail takes you all the way through the awe inspiring natural beauty of the Famous Khumbu region in Nepal until you reach the Base Camp. En route you Pass through terrace middle hills of Nepal, explore local custom and way of life of Himalayan dwellers, explore Buddhists monastery and enjoy the panoramic Himalayan sights of the majestic mountain ranges in the region. En route you take a day rest in Namche Bazzar and Gokyo for Acclimatization and explore the vicinity. From the Base Camp you hike up to the Advance base camp and similarly up to Camp I and Camp II. After being properly acclimatized you finally Attempt the summit of the Peak. The Best season for Mt. Cho Oyu expedition is during spring and autumn.


Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02-03: Spend day for Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley for 5-6 hours and preparation for Peak climbing. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla via scenic flight and then trek to Phakding

Day 05: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Day 06: Take a day rest at Namche Bazaar for the acclimatization

Day 07: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Dole

Day 08: Trek from Dole to Gokyo

Day 09: Take a day rest as Acclimatization at Gokyo

Day 10: Trek from Gokyo to Cho Oyu Base camp

Day 11-12: Set up Base camp

Day 13: Expedition ceremony and rest

Day 14-18: Set Advance base camp and transport equipment to ABC

Day 18-22: Hike up to Camp I route fix and set up camp

Day 22-26: Hike up and Set up camp II

Day 26-30: Back to base camp for final summit plan and rest

Day 31: Again hike up to Camp I

Day 32: Hike up to Camp II

Day 33: Summit and back to ABC

Day 34-35: Stay at base camp for cleaning and packing equipment

Day 36: Trek back from Base Camp to Gokyo

Day 37: Trek back from Gokyo to Dole

Day 38: Trek back from Dole to Namche

Day 39: Trek back from Namche to Phakding

Day 40: Trek back from Phakding to Lukla

Day 41: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu

Day 42: Stay at Kathmandu and rest

Day 43: Transfer to International Airport for your onward destination.
