Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak is one of the most popular climbing Peaks in Nepal. The peak is also famous as Imja Tse is located on top of the Chhukung glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Mountains. The peak is named Island peak as the peak is seen as island in the sea of ice from Dingboche. Island peak climbing is a superb combination of the adventurous Everest base camp trek and the Island peak climbing. Island peak climbing offers the spectacular mountain view of majestic mountain ranges like Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m), Lhotse Shar (8,383m), Makalu (8475m), Baruntse and Ama Dablam.

For climbing the Island Peak you trek all the way along the Everest base camp trekking trail for 7-8 days until you reach the Chhukung from where you start climbing up to the Island peak base camp at Pareshaya Gyab (5,087m). you take some day rest in the Base Camp as acclimatization day exploring the area. From Kathmandu you take a flight to Lukla (2840m/9320ft) from where you start your trek. Normally island peak is ascended through its South East Flank. From Base Camp of the Peak you hike up to the High camp from where you attempt the summit. Best season to climb the peak is during March to May and September to December.


Day 01: Arrival in Tribhuwan International Airport at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Spend day for Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley for 5-6 hours and for preparation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Take a scenic flight from Kathmandu- Lukla (2840m/9320ft)-(2610m/8560ft) and trek to Phakding for 3-4 hrs.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11290ft) trekking for about 5-6 hrs.

Day 05: Take a day rest at Namche Bazaar as Acclimatization day.

Day 06: Trek Form Namche to Tengboche (3860m) walking for about 5 hours a day. You visit the world famous monastery at the highest altitude.

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (3800M) walking for 5 hrs.

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4410m) walking for about 5 hours a day.

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to Gorekshep (5180m) then hike up to Kala Pathar (5545m) walking for about 7 hrs and then back to Lobuche.

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to Dingboche (4410m) walking for about 5 hrs.

Day 10: Trek from Dingboche to Chhukhung (4700m) waking for about 5 hrs.

Day 11: Hike up to the Island Peak Base Camp.

Day 12: Hike up from Island Peak Base Camp to High Camp

Day 13: Today you summit the peak and trek back to Chhukhung.

Day 14: Extra day to attempt summit and trek back to Chhukhung.

Day 15: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche.

Day 16: Trek back from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar

Day 17: Trek back from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

Day 18: Take a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla. At evening free for shopping.

Day 19: Transfer to International Airport for your onward destination.
